C/1995 O1 (Hale-Bopp) with Adaptive Optics

Comet Hale-Bopp at the evening sky, detected from Bonn, Germany. The used optics was an adaptive system for wide field applications with real time focussing and image centering. It was developed and refined over million of years. The data storage was done on an ecological recycable medium.
This seems to be the first optical detection of a cometary nuclei with ground based observations. Like the nucleus of Comet Halley, that was observed with the Giotto Spacecraft, it appears strongly elliptical. In the opinion of the observer, the different colour of the nucleus could be due to the different consistence of the storage writers.
